Did you ever meet someone who insists on getting everything they want, when they want it? Of course you have. It is hard to make it through life without knowing someone like this these days. Many people say that it is just the millennials that feel this way, but, I know people that are much older that are of the same frame of mind. As an example, I would like to tell you about the new couple that moved in next door. They seemed nice enough when they introduced themselves and we felt optimistic about the idea of having friendly people living next door. Once they moved in they started making some changes to the place which was to be expected, but, I kept hearing the wife yelling at the contractors and I felt bad for them. She didn’t seem happy no matter what they did and I wouldn’t have blamed them if they dropped everything and left. They were patient with her and tried to make adjustments to suit her requests. The breaking point was when she wanted to upgrade the HVAC system to include central air. The house is nearly one hundred and fifty years old and there was no way to install this without ripping out the walls to install the ductwork. The house currently only had a boiler and radiators for heat and had no air conditioning at all. The couple wanted air conditioning but were unwilling to have the house torn apart to get it. I remember them having several loud arguments over this. When I couldn’t take it anymore I dropped off the name of our HVAC dealer. I told them that they had several options that would allow them to have zoned air conditioners installed without causing much construction mess at all. I knew this because we had done the same thing a few years ago.
